BCRA vs. CLS in Mighty Midget Civil War race
Bakersfield, CA  May 12, 2012

The Northern California BCRA Midget Lites and the Southern California Lightning Sprints met for the 1st time in a few years in what looks like a new series coming to both clubs.

Twenty-four (24) showed up in Central California to race for a little bit of bragging rights.

Thirteen from the South and eleven from the North.
BCRA got things started off with last years car owner champion Dakota Albright #35jr starting in the 6th position taking his time a in moving to the front.  His  team mate Craig Dillard #72 moved from 8th to capture the 2nd spot with Cameron Beard #77 following in 3rd.  All three from BCRA. 4th position was C. Dryer #7 and Dale Gamer#17, both from CLS. 6th Marshal Sexton #62, 7th Rick Soto #30 and 8th Howie West #7.

Heat #2 was loaded with CLS power, with only 3 BCRA cars starting.  The Bandit, Scott Kinney #9 starting 7th worked his way to the from and on lap 5 took the lead followed  by Brian Corso #10 making his 1st start this season.  Finishing 3rd was CLS driver Stepen Limon #4x close behind him was Zach Zauss #29. Marcus Smith #28 in 5th and #24 Damon Arnett in 6th position. Dan Hilberg #10 the CLS points leader did not start the race due to engine problems along with Tom Downing #90.

Heat #3 saw only two BCRA cars racing.  Kevin Michnowicz #21k (CLS) won the race starting from the 2nd row.  2nd was Darren Hillberg #01, 3rd was Jarrett Kramer #14.  Craig Holsted #74(BCRA)  finished a strong 4th and Guy Maresch #50 was on his rear nerf bar coming across the finish line.  Rick Johnson #88 who drove down from the Lake Tahoe area finished 6th.  Alexander Bissett #3 who is in the top 5 in points in the CLS had some problems and Chris Walker #64 tangled with another car in turn #1 and flipped it.  He was ok after the rollover.

The feature was a terrific race.  A few spins, a little bumping and a nose wing come loose.  Other than that everything else seemed to be the Mighty Midget Lites of BCRA.  The infield was under the control  of the BCRA Lite ref. Rod Browning, who kept the race running very smooth.  Everyone in the stands was watching the Red Hawk #9 machine rule the track.  Scott Kinney started in the 9th position and made a steady determined push to the front.  Cameron Beard #77 held him off for a few laps and than made a little mistake and off Scott went.  Cameron held on to finish 2nd.  Having one of his best nights racing, Dakota Albright #35jrd did everything right and followed Cameron across the checkered flag.  Making it into the top 4 was Dakota’s team mate Craig Dillard #72 for a BCRA great finish.  CLS than took the next two spots with Jarrett Kramer#14 and Kevin Michnowicz #21k claiming positions #5 and # 6 in the order.  BCRA’s #74 Craig Holsted running one of his best races finished 7th. He had a big thank you for the crew of Scott Kinney’s car for the help they gave him with the setup and shocks.  The following is the finishing order, 8th #4x Limon: 9th #50 Maresch: 10th Marshal Sexton #62: 11th Dyer #7: 12th D. Hillberg #01; 13TH Brian Corso #10x:  14th  #30 Rick Sota.
